Violeta Pullover

Violeta is a cable and lace pullover that is worked either top down or bottom up depending upon your size. It features a floral lace panel with a mirrored cable on front and back as well as cables on the sleeves. The rest of the sweater has simple cables separated by sections of stockinette.
Elegant ballon sleeves create that feminine touch.
Most sizes are top down with raglan increases, the larger sizes are bottom up.
You will learn how to make cables without a cable needle, as well as techniques for making your lace stitches stand out.
Work from charts or written instructions.
As always, Eebie will offer additional creative ideas for making your Violeta fit perfectly!
Violeta should not be your first sweater. You need to be comfortable knitting raglan increases, short rows and using yarnovers, k2tog and ssk.
Pattern suggests using a fingering weight yarn held together with mohair or suri. These combine to create a DK weight yarn. Some of the yarns we suggest for Violeta are:
Sueno DK by Skacel Sueno
Really Rosie DK ReallyRosie
Southern Twist DK SouthernTwistDK
Vera by Berroco DK Vera
As a special bonus you get 10% off the purchase of a Southern Twist Oh Snap Bag when you sign up for this awesome class!!!
Additional classes may be added as we progress through this project as needed.

| Skill Level: | Intermediate |
| Skill Details: | You will learn how to make cables without a cable needle, read charts, perfect your lace skills, learn how to modify the pattern to fit you, choose the neckline you prefer |
| Materials Included: | Supplies must be purchased from Southern Twist: yarn, pattern, try on cords, ring markers |
| Requirements: | This is not a beginner sweater, you need to have knit a sweater with raglan increases in the round previously; previous basic lace work experience. You do not need to know how to make cables. There is homework for this class: As the pattern is written yardage required, obviously, if your knitting a smaller size within the range you need less, if knitting the largest size in the range it requires the full amount. Modifications will change the amount you need. Sizes XS, S, M need 1000-1100 yards of DK held single. Per projects on ravelry: M’s took from 1100-1200, L’s took 1200-1500. Sizes L, XL, 2X need 1500-1600 yards of DK held single. Note to preserve yarn: place your swatches on a try-on cord to wet block instead of binding off, without cutting yarn from ball. Use a different ball for each swatch. Knit 2 separate gauge swatches. Stockinette swatch: Cast on at 32 stitches. Knit garter st for a couple rows. Keep first and last 5 stitches in garter stitch, center stitches are stockinette 30 rows. Garter for 2 rows and bind off (not tight) or place on a try on cord to wet block. Per the pattern, gauge should be 22 st and 30 rows = 4” square. If the center 22 stitches are smaller than 4”, your needle is too small. If the center 22 stitches are larger than 4”, your needle is too big. Cable and Lace swatch: If you are not comfortable knitting this swatch don’t worry about it, you can knit it after our first class. Cast on 34 st. Knit garter st for a couple rows. Keep first and last 5 stitches in garter stitch, center stitches are chart C stitches 1-24. Written instructions are on page 3, chart is on page 10. Knit rows 1-16. Place on a try on cord to wet block. If the center 24 stitches are smaller than 4”, your needle is too small. If the center 24 stitches are larger than 4”, your needle is too big. If you want to use a worsted weight yarn knit swatches as described using the needle size recommended for your yarn (7/8). It will be your personal preference if you like how they look, then you will use that needle size. In first class we will go over which size to knit depending upon gauge size. As always we are not as worried about row gauge, we can adjust. Decide which neckline you want to knit. |
